Ground Investigation

Why TFGI for your Ground Investigation

Mark Bradley, founding director of TFGI, personally oversees all ground and site investigations – managing the project scoping, resources, and report production.

Mark ensures that every project from simple to complex meets TFGI’s exacting standards as our work is relied upon by domestic clients, developers, contractors, consultants, public sector bodies, insurers, and at times the legal profession as an accurate representation of prevailing ground conditions and its Engineering behaviour.

All our ground investigations are carried out by our own directly employed staff. We do not subcontract out any work. This strategic approach contributes to a reliable and consistent outcome and facilitates our investment in staff training and development.

All our staff hold the relevant NVQ in land drilling as well as many supporting qualifications and we develop everyone to the same TFGI standards – your projects depend on a robust, accurate and reliable understanding of the ground and we never forget this.

Capability

Ground Investigation is TFGI’s core subject – If it is underground we will find it, investigate it, measure it, understand it and explain it to you.

We provide cost effective solutions to all ground engineering problems by using our team’s knowledge.

We also own and operate all our own drilling plant, from dynamic and hand held window sampling, through cable percussion (up to 508 mm dia) to the latest rotary drilling rigs capable with proven drill depths of 250m +. We also have a range of demountable and cut-down rigs that enable us to access even the most difficult places for many of our basement build investigations.

Supporting services

Additionally we ensure that wherever practicable we have one of our Engineering Geologists supervising the work on site, making all necessary decisions, logging the strata as the samples are recovered. This delivers an efficient, effective and reliable solution to our site works.

Whether you want factual data, an interpretative report, a full design service or expert witness advice we can provide all that you need in the format that you want.

Additionally we have a very strong background in instrumentation design and planning, installation, monitoring and interpretation to compliment the investigation.
